Mission Statement

The people of St Mary’s affirm that:

  • The celebration of the Eucharist and other sacraments are at the core of our worship.
  • We learn from each other and we gather to worship and support each other
  • We carry the gospel message of Christ into the world in our daily lives and through our links with other communities at home and throughout the world.
  • We do not expect anyone to conform to any label or 'box'. All are welcome.
  • We are open and honest with each other and willing to experience new things and change if necessary.
  • We challenge the status-quo where we believe the status-quo to be wrong or harmful.

The people at the heart of St Mary’s form a:

Sacramental Church: Sacramental in that the celebration of the Eucharist and other Sacraments are at the core of worship in St Mary's and that it is the sacraments that nourish us spiritually.

T

Together Church: Together in that we learn from each other and that we gather to worship and support each other.

M

Missionary Church: Missionary in that we carry the gospel message of Christ into the world, in our daily lives and through our links with other communities at home and through the world.

A

Affirming Church: Affirming in that we do not expect anyone to conform to any label or 'box' before they are welcome but rather that we go out and meet and accept them where they are and journey alongside them, in love.

Radical Church: Radical in that we are open and honest with each other and willing to experience new things and change if necessary.

Y

Yearning Church: Yearning in that we challenge the status-quo where we believe that status-quo to be wrong or harmful.

Our key objectives are:

  • to share our experiences of God's love with each other within our congregation
  • to take the Good News of Jesus Christ out into the world (in accordance with Matthew 28: 16-end) by the example of the ways in which we live our daily lives.
